Police Declares Samuel Fears Wanted
Samuel Fears, a resident of 231 Kamayama, Lumley, west end of Freetown, and a known supporter of the main opposition All People’s Congress party, is among those declared wanted by the Sierra Leone Police behind the August 10 Protest.
Youths believed to be ruling party operatives are alleged to have identified Samuel Fears as one of those behind the August 10 protest, which claimed the lives of police officers and civilians. Many of those identified as perpetrators of the violent protest by these ruling party youths, are said to have been identified as a result of the rivalry between the two main parties, the ruling SLPP and the main opposition party APC. This rivalry had resulted in a lot of skirmishes, each pointing accusing finger at the other.
According to eye witnesses, there has been bitter arguments and confrontation between ruling party youths and the main opposition party youths in the area, and this has led to high tension in the community, this, in the days leading to August 10, these ruling party youths have been threatening their counterparts in the opposition over a two day sit at home prelude to the main protest on August 10.
Thus, a group of youths known to be ruling SLPP operatives, known as “SLPP Soja Team”, and one was said to be wearing the party’s T-Shirt bearing the picture of the current President Julius Maada Bio, and the party’s logo, descended on the community, attacking homes of known main opposition party supporters and members, leading to many leaving their homes for safer areas.
It was disclosed that as things got violent on August 10, these ruling party youths in the company of armed security officers, stormed houses identified by their colleagues as participants or perpetrator. Many were shot in their homes, while others taken away and never returned, and feared dead.
Family sources of Samuel Fears say that he had been targeted by ruling party youths on several occasions and on the day of the protest, these youths came with the armed security officers, with some of them holding weapons, demanding that Samuel Fears give himself up, as a curfew had been declared by the government. They furthered that Samuel had to escape via the back door of the house into a nearby mechanic garage, narrowly escaping from the angry youths and security officers, at the nick of time when they broke into the house.
Family sources say that as they were unable to get Samuel, the entire household became targets and were mercilessly beaten with gun butts.

The story of the family was corroborated by nearby neighbors, who also confirmed that they had to take some of the family members in to save them from the irate youths who promised to kill everyone and burn down the house.
