It is a time of great concern for Sierra Leoneans as regionalism, sectionalism and political witch hunting is becoming increasingly common. In neighboring Guinea, the junta government of Mamadou Dumbuya is actively targeting Fullahs, resulting in the deportation of Sierra Leoneans from Conakry back to their home country. This has caused uproar as many question why a junta government would adopt such tactics, and the effects are also being felt in Sierra Leone where even the government is targeting Fullahs with roots in Guinea for deportation.
But amidst all of this chaos, one name stands out – Alhaji Hassan Gajikoh. Mr. Gajikoh, who is believed to have ties to the APC party, has been declared wanted by the Sierra Leone Police and is now in hiding, a fugitive in both Guinea and Sierra Leone. The Times SL Newspaper recently discovered this while conducting an investigation into the situation in Guinea. It is a truly alarming situation, with a single individual now facing persecution in two countries that he calls home.
The question on everyone’s mind is, why is Alhaji Hassan Gajikoh in hiding? What has he done to be declared a wanted man by the government? And most importantly, why is he not safe in both countries (Guinea and Sierra Leone)? These are valid questions that demand answers.
One theory suggests that Mr. Gajikoh’s association with the APC party may have made him a target for the ruling government in Sierra Leone, who are believed to be targeting individuals with ties to the opposition party. Another possibility is that the junta government in Guinea may see him as a threat due to his Fullah heritage and connections to Sierra Leone.
Whatever the reason may be, it is a sad reality that Mr. Gajikoh has been forced into hiding, unable to live freely in either of his home countries. This situation highlights the increasing regional tensions and political divisions that are plaguing the West African region.
As Sierra Leoneans, we must stand united and denounce all forms of discrimination and persecution. We cannot allow innocent individuals like Alhaji Hassan Gajikoh to face such injustices. It is high time for the government to address these issues and focus on promoting unity and inclusivity, instead of targeting specific communities and individuals.
In conclusion, it is our hope that Alhaji Hassan Gajikoh will soon be able to come out of hiding and live peacefully in his home country. We must all work towards creating a society that embraces diversity and respects the rights of all individuals, regardless of their political or regional affiliations. Let us stand together and put an end to this senseless persecution.
