Reports reaching this medium from the Northern District of Kabala, Simamayia Village, reveal that a young man by the name of Samuel Kamara is being sought after by members of the dreaded Secret Society, ‘Gbangbani’, after escaping forceful initiation by the society.
According to investigation mounted by this medium, Samuel Kamara is the eldest son of Pa Kamara (deceased), who was the head of the secret society until his death on 10th September 2022. As was the practice, after the death of the father, the eldest son should replace him as head. Thus, on the day for the completion of all the rites for the late father on 30th October 2022, members of the Secret Society, who took charge of the entire ceremony, told the Kamara family that the late man had identified his eldest son, Samuel Kamara, to replace him in the society, as a result, they demanded that he makes himself available for the initiation. Upon this disclosure, Samuel Kamara is said to have rejected their demand on the basis that he is a Christian and becoming a member of such a secret society was against his belief.
Samuel Kamara is said to have vehemently rejected their demand to the annoyance of the society members. It was further disclosed by family members that few days later, they heard the sound of the members of the secret society singing their society songs and approaching their house. Samuel Kamara is said to have narrowly escaped from being abducted by the society members by using the back door of the house.
Family sources say that memnbers of the society then chased him into a nearby bush, and it is not known where he went. They furthered that after some hours, the society members turned up at their house looking for Samuel, who they said had disappeared into the bush, and threatened that anyone hiding him will pay a bitter prize. Family members and youths in the community say that since he disappeared on the 30th October, he has not returned and his whereabouts are still unknown. They furthered that the secret society members have on several occasions stormed their house in search of Samuel and have issued several threats against his life and that of anyone harboring him. They vowed to continue to look for him and when found, they will teach him a lesson that he will not forget in a hurry.
Information gathered about the rites performed by the secret society suggests the most inhuman of treatment, including cuttings on the body, which often render some of the recruits dead. Those who die during the initiation ceremony are never handed over to their families, but their families are simply told that the Gods desire their continued presence in the shrine.
Unfortunately, secret society issues are a no-go area for any police investigation, as many top brass in the force belong to one such society or the other.
