Two staff working at Sierra Leone Commercial Bank (SLCB), Aiah Gborie, an Electrician and Mohamed Serassa Jalloh, a driver, appeared before Magistrate Isata Sellu Tucker of Court No 2 Pademba Road, Freetown on charges of stealing fuel belonging to the bank. Both accused are charged on two counts of conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to law and larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the charge sheet on count 1, both accused Aiah Gborie and Mohamed Serassa Jalloh on Wednesday 12th October 2022,, at Sierra Leone Commercial Bank Headquarters, Siaka Stevens Street, Freetown, conspired together and with other person’s unknown to commit a felony to wit larceny. Count 2 states that both accused on the same date at the bank (SLCB), Headquarters, on Siaka Stevens Street, Freetown, did steal 376 liters of fuel valued at six million seven hundred and sixty eight thousand Leones, property of Sierra Leone Commercial Bank, whilst in the custody of the fuel consultant, Cyril Lisk. The Defense Counsel C. Campbell Esq. told the Court that they have come to a conclusion that his client has vowed to pay back, so he is asking for bail to meet the Management of Sierra Leone Commercial Bank for them to pay the amount of fuel stolen. Magistrate Tucker however granted both accused bail and adjourned the matter to the 22nd November 2022, ASP Hawa Bah is Prosecuting the matter.
