Taken a tour at the Psychiatric hospital also known as Kissy Mental Home located at the East End of Freetown, is the the only mental home that is specialized for the treatment of people who have mental disorder. Such as bipolar disorder, eating disorder, dissociative identity disorder, major depressive disorder and many more. This writer found out that only the hospital has only one specialist and few nurses to attend to a nation with a population of about 7.5 million people dealing with patients affected by these mental illness is worrisome. According to information gathered by this writer, the hospital usually received 15 new cases every week with mental disorder, as a result of this, most of the patients taken to the hospital there is no proper drugs to take care of the patients, and most of their family members at times take them to up country for traditional medication but they end up die. The people are calling the government to focus at the Kissy Mental Home to get more specialist doctors, nurses and more drugs for the patients.
