Ibrahim Turay, the leader of a youth advocacy group, Kissy Progressive Youth Organization, is said to be on the run after police declared him wanted for playing key role in the August 10th insurrection that saw many civilians including security personnel killed.
A spokesman for the Sierra Leone Police told Salone Compass Newspaper that Turay was one of the architects of the bloody August 10th anti-government protests, using his position as the head of the Kissy Progressive Youth Organization (KPYO), to not only incite other youth but also fully participated in the riots.
‘A list containing names and photos of those alleged to have played key part in the bloody insurrection is now in the public domain’ , the police spokesman disclosed adding that handsome rewards were now in place for anyone that could provide useful information leading to the arrest of the alleged perpetrators.
Meanwhile, reports gathered by Salone Compass Newspaper indicate that pro-government youth and other stakeholders of the ruling party, are said to have embarked on a mob justice mission, locating and lynching anyone accused of playing a part in the riots.
It could be recalled that Ibrahim Turay has been one of the fierce critics of the government over the years.
His alleged involvement in the August 10th anti-government riots therefore did not come as a surprise to many.
This medium gathered that a desperate search mission is already on by both the Police and pro-government youth to locate Ibrahim Turay dead or alive.
As at press time the whereabout of Turay remains unknown as family members fear the worst for their son.
