AS LGBT IS NOT ACCEPTED BY RELIGIOUS AND TRADITIONAL LEADERS, MR. JONATHAN KAI BAFINDOR IS BANNISHED AND DECLARED WANTED BY ELDERS.
In recent times around the sub Saharan countries; it has become a growing interest and love from people within common interests. Mostly, few African Countries are hugely dominated with LGBT practices as fundamental rights and values to shares.
Amongst most of these countries practicing LGBT, Sierra Leone takes the center stage by its people to commonly practice LGBT; amidst this practice of LGBT, challenges are mainly around the practitioners of the LGBT and the religious, traditional and government officials.
The practices of LGBT is strongly condemned and seen as a taboo by religious and traditional elders in Sierra Leone, LGBT practitioners and campaigners are always faced with physical assaults, marginalization and stigmatizations in the cause of them exercising or practicing their rights. Despite LGBT is recognized under international laws as freedom of associating, like the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights articles. The Sierra Leone Constitution also makes provisions to protect and recognize fundamental human rights like such rights of freedom of Association. As LGBT practitioners are in increase in Sierra Leone especially the Gay and Lesbian practitioners, many people who are practicing LGBT, especially gay and lesbian life have been killed, injured and persecuted in diverse ways by religious and traditional people who are frowning against theses practices calling it a sinful thing.
Recently, one Jonathan Kai Bafindor was seen and caught practicing the gay life with his fellow man, in that path the communities that are made up of the Religious and Traditional believers chased him with stones, machetes and other harmful items. According to our findings conducted by this media, Mr. Bafindor has been suspected of practicing gay life, which many religious and traditional believers are against, and intolatrating.
Therefore, eyewitnesses gave accounts of how Mr. Bafindor has been monitoring and investigating by the people who are against theses types of practices. Many gave accounts that Mr. Bafindor Has been targeted many times by communities people who are against gay practices, condemning it as a disrespect and provocation against the operation and practices of religions and traditions.
The religious and traditional leaders including some government officials who are vehemently against LGBT practices went on manhunt for Mr. Bafindor in a widespread search for the intent and purposes to kill him if seen around the communities of anywhere.
In furtherance of investigating this human-interest story, this media contacted the religious and traditional elders to confirm the attacks against Mr. Bafindor and the public declaration of wanted notice against Mr. Bafindor for practicing gay life, an act that is recognized and respected by international communities and laws as a fundamental human rights, few of the elders confirmed to this media that any form of LGBT is not allowed and recognized in the communities because it is a defilement to their practices and beliefs as traditions and religions are against them, due to their principles, commandments and practices.
They also confirmed that Mr. Bafindor and other few people that are practicing gay life are therefore banished and declared wanted by the elders and we are therefore in the search of them and if seen, they will be severely dealt with.
Efforts are being made to contact the victim, Mr. Bafindor, but since his disappearance, this media cannot reach him to know his whereabouts and to have his side of the story. This media was able to contact one of his family members, who happens to be his uncle, Mr. Abdul Bafindor, he then explained to us that his nephew, Mr. Bifindor was practicing gay life which the family and communities elders are against, and he had been severally caught practicing the gay life and was severely assaulted by people who are against LGBT. The uncle further said, his nephews Mr. Bafindor was last seen a week ago and since then the family has not seen him neither do they have any information about his whereabouts or even his existence. As it stands, this media cannot confirm Mr. Bafindor’s existence or whereabouts neither does his family.
