Police sources say that they are looking for one AminataBangura, a known prostitute, who was arrested around the Aberdeen axis and taken into custody, but eventually escaped whilst they were changing shift at night.
According to our investigation AminataBangura was caught around the Aberdeen axis together with other prostitutes, but was unlucky, as the others managed to escape leaving her in an unfinished house, where they had all gone to take cover from the police. Youths in the area spoken to say that she has been seen regularly plying her trade, in the company of other girls, they also confirmed that when the police arrived, she and the other girls ran into an unfinished house in the area, but she was caught and put in a police van and taken away.
According to our source at the police station at Lumley, Aminata was brought in for the offence of prostitution and made to sit behind the counter whilst statement was being taken from her. It was disclosed that the officer taking her statement went to attend to nature and on her return, discovered that Aminata had escaped. Other police officers also disclosed that they saw her sitting in a corner when they came in, but thought that she was a complainant for an offence, as a result when she left, they did not bother to check on her. They furthered that after it was made clear that she was a suspect under arrest for prostitution, a team of police officers went to look for her, but to no avail.
During our investigation, it was disclosed that Aminata hailed froma remote village called Rolal 2, in Port Loko, North-Western Sierra Leone. Our correspondence in Port Loko was swiftly dispatched to the region to know more about Aminata. During our investigation in Rolala 2, it was disclosed that Aminata had lost both her parents, UnisaBangura and KadiataBangura at an early age and was living with her uncle in the same village. It was also disclosed that things were not going on well between her and her uncle and that she absconded from home and surfaced in the city of Freetown. They were shocked to know that she had entered into prostitution, an illegal cat in the country, and a matter that is frowned on by both religious and traditional leaders. They however told this medium that since she absconded from the village, she has not been seen.
Aminata is said to have no known friends and has been seen in the company of some girls. The girls told this writer that they had no idea that she was into prostitution, and are surprised that she could be so secretive. When asked whether they have any idea as to where she may be hiding, they said that since the youths explained about her arrest to them, they have not set eye on her and are worried about her safety.
As we go to press, the police say that they are still looking for her and have sent messages to all their units across the country for her arrest if seen. Her whereabouts are still unknown.
