17 years old Sierra Leonean by the name of SaioKargbo who was residing at Ishmaila Road,Kabala, Northern Sierra Leone,has been declared wanted by the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), after she was caught in the act of same sex with another female.
It was revealed that SaioKargbo,believed to be the head of the lesbian group in Sierra Leone, and caught on the act, and has also been accused of luring other girls to embrace the illegalpractice.
According to our source, the matter was reported to the Sierra Leone Police over the incident, and her luring of young girls in the country. Many of the girls interviewed say that they are aware about the sexuality of Saio and are apprehensive of the involvement of other young girls. They expressed happiness that the matter has been brought to the attention of the police. Their cries were heard and on the 21st December, the police issued a search and arrest warrant for SaioKargbo.Saiois said to have managed to escape before the arrival of the police.
According to police sources, the action of Saio is illegal and against all religious and moral practices in the country. They furthered that her activities have the proclivity to negatively influence other young girls to embrace this unholy act and eventually render society a cursed one. It is in line with the laws of the land that they have issued a warrant of arrest for her, and even though they have not been able to arrest her, they will continue to search for her and will make her pay for her crime.
This medium also visited the family of Saio, who were in shock over the situation, as they claimed that they had no idea that their daughter was a lesbian. They disclosed that they only thought that her partner was merely a friend, and would visit her regularly. However, family members say that the whereabouts of Saio is unknown, and are fearful of her being tortured or killed by a group of youths who pursued her when she rushed out of the house to escape police arrest.
According to the laws of Sierra Leone, same sex is illegal and anyone caught practicing it will be prosecuted and sentenced to long jail term. If the suspect is caught by the community and left to be dealt with by them, the fate of such a suspect is death. Both regions abhor the practice of homosexuality and lesbianism, describing them as demonic.
As we go to press, the whereabouts of SaioKargbo are still unknown, and the police have also mounted a man-hunt for her across the country, with pictures of her posted in many stations.
